Aim
–
The Research Cell is formed to help the USI
members in following areas:
·
Guide
any member of USI - Full /associate /affiliate
in undertaking research project.
·
The
research project could be in clinical urology or
basic sciences
·
Help
the members in collaborating with various
instititutions in India and abroad for that
project.
·
Help
the members in liaising with
organizations like ICMR and other bodies
for possibility of funding for the said project
·
Encourage
the young trainees and consultants to get into
research, the counseling and possible areas of
research they can undertake would be taken care
of by the research cell.
·
Work
with the pharma industry closely to undertake
the projects that are useful, such as
epidemiological studies, drug trials and
clinical trials. USI would like to encourage the
pharma industry to undertake the projects at the
National level through USI, rather than
restricting the studies to the smaller places
and with less number.
·
USI
would like to see and encourage Indian studies
with the help of research cell. The aim is to
have the Indian data rather than relying on
western data.
As
a first step, we have worked on following areas:
·
Collected
all the data of various institutions that
undertake clinical and basic sciences research
in India as of today.
·
Identified
some more institutions that have potential of
conducting research.
·
Identified
‘trainers’ / “guides” who can help the
USI members in undertaking the research.
·
As
a first National study, the research cell is
currently working on OAB (Overactive bladder)
questionnaire to look into the epidemiological
data with the help of Ranbaxy. The questionnaire
would be circulated to the members and we would
help in compiling the data with the help of
experts.
We
request you to:
·
Contact
us for any help you need to undertake a research
project
·
Write
to us if your institution is ready to
participate in the National project
·
Write
to us if you wish to be a trainer /guide to help
the young trainee/urologist in undertaking the
research project. USI would certainly appreciate
your efforts.
